Nonie Creme talks nail trends from the catwalk for Butter London A/W 2010.

Super cute and insightful backstage footage at New York Fashion Week with Nonie Creme, Creative Director of Butter London, the brand making it’s name as the absolute must-have when it comes to all things nails. This movie is chocablock with insights into next season’s nail trends, professional tips for creating nail looks featured on the catwalk and backstage interviews with the designers.

Synonymous with the season’s hottest catwalk trends, next season’s Butter London nail colours are sumptuous and I for one… Cannot. Wait.

Alexander Wang x Butter London

Backstage at New York Fashion Week, Nonie Creme briefs her team on creating perfect “sandblasted” neutral nails for the Alexander Wang show. Creating the look of a mannequin’s hand was the prerequisite for the show. Talking backstage to Alexander Wang, Nonie establishes why the designer loves this neutral matte nail for his shows, “there’s something very modern and sexy about a completley depleted nail, something so fresh”.

Introducing the “A Wang Nail”… Yummy Mummy 3 Free Lacquer (opaque beige) and Matte Finish Shine Free Topcoat. To create the “A Wang Nail” look, nails should be short, shaped either square or round to suit the individual hand. Apply two coats of Yummy Mummy to clean nails, wait a few seconds and then apply a thin layer of Matte Finish. Perfect neutral, matte nails.

Vena Cava x Butter London

Nonie creates a custom mix Butter London colour for the Vena Cava show, whose theme was hazy, rainy and dark days so nails needed to reflect this look. The fashion house is renowned for its story telling ability, head designer, Lisa Mayock brainstorms with Nonie whilst inventing this season’s custom nail colour. Keywords such as marrow, wine, sediment are the focus and Lisa even throws “rotten” into the mix to depict that really gritty feel.

The end result is somewhere between grape and wine with a hint of white for an eerie glow. Named “Marrow” by Vena Cava designers, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, Nonie gives us the heads-up that this super limited edition Butter London colour will be available for A/W 2010. Watch this space!
