The Eagle has landed!
Part of the ongoing Puma by Alexander McQueen collab and minty fresh for AW11, the ‘Cloud Dancer’ Eagle Print reinterprets the classic baseball style…
Aaaaand I’m hella smitten. Available in a distressed, off-white leather these hi-tops feature a biro blue scribble print eagle illustration on the heel. Somewhere that fashion house meets street artist in a none too brash style.
Miss Lanvin Party Girl
OMFG. Christmas wishlists are upon us already!
While partaking in the typical Monday morning procrastination (e.g. write action lists, drink coffee, flick through design mags, emails, blog subscriptions, familiarise self with week ahead’s schedule, panic, drink more coffee, etc.), a tweet from Furcoat distracted me further… she is a terrible (in a good way) influence! Anyways, it spurred me to check out Matches Fashion. Lethal.
A Campaign for Sex
So young. So inspired. So inspiring… SEX!
Uh huh. Oh, wow! This surmises our attitude towards this week; we’ve big plans ahoy and need to tackle the next few days with full force so we’re filling our minds with concentrated measures of extreme inspiration. Today’s supersized chunk of inspiration is Elliot Joseph Rentz (AKA Rentz), a 17-year old designer hailing from Brighton who recently relocated to London.
Trend Report: Comics, Superhero & Kids TV
Flashbacks to the 80′s, neon brights and homage to the comic book superheroes and kids tv characters of yesteryear. This season, designers took on the cult, flashy, trashy, poptastic icons of our childhood and hit the catwalks with more Crash!, Blaaaam! and Kaaa-Pow! than Captain Chaos could ever imagine possible!
Let’s backtrack to reality – for just one small moment – today the (loose) plan was trendspotting this season’s hot picks from the New York and London Fashion Week AW11 collections, with a view to collate moodboards and produce a “proper” trend report. In reality, we’ve spent the entire morning pretending to be caped crusaders…
nOir Jewelry x DC Comics
The second surprising but equally awesome collab this week to get a shout out: nOir Jewelry x DC Comics… the often over stated “All I want for Christmas…” saying just got for reals.
If you’re anything like me (unashamedly caught in the late 70′s/early 80′s) you’ll love the oversized, extravagant new nOir Jewelry collection created in collaboration with DC Comics – the ultimate bling of super heroes.
Hair Hats by Nagi Noda
Must be something in the (h)air but I literally cannot stop marvelling at these visionary hair hats by Nagi Noda. Made using ahem, yeah, real hair.
Anyone that knows me IRL will know my obsession with animals, millinery and really big hair up-do’s. Bringing all of those elements together into one multiversal form is much like being a kid at Christmas (for me)… and I’m unapologetic in this belated excitement. My only shame is existing in ignorance – to this point.

RIP McQueen
Weird Science of Alexander McQueen, 1999
Lee Alexander McQueen. Thank you.
Late 1999, I scored myself a job in the marketing department of Givenchy. Words cannot describe that moment. Any attempt to describe my exact sentiment would be futile suffice to say with McQueen at the helm, anything was possible. For those unsure of the whole Givenchy vs. McQueen story, please glide over to Wikipedia, the historical facts are secondary here. As a young, eager, delusional designer it felt so right; he was an anarchist, genius, unpredictable and I was smitten with this “enfant terrible”.
