Christmas Shopping in Chichester just got exciting!
Those creative ladies at Winter’s Moon, Rebecca Joy and Julia Grant, have yet again demonstrated their resourcefulness by opening a temporary Christmas Pop-up shop in the heart of Chichester. An empty premises in Crane Street is now looking a little brighter thanks to their local business, Winter’s Moon, which is selling vintage, recycled and handmade items for Christmas.
In all honesty, I’m not the most Christmassy person on the planet it has to be said but, when I popped in to show my friends some support, I was more than a little bit surprised to feel a sudden rush of festive enchantment. Christmas felt magical once more!
Winter’s Moon is beautifully laden with handmade textiles and ceramics, as well as prints, vintage homewares and reconditioned furniture from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Rebecca and Julia have an imaginative knack of breathing life back into unwanted objects making them desirable once again. All the recycled or reconditioned furniture is carried out to an impeccable quality that further enhances any unique or quirky features. I speak from experience here as the proud owner of a vintage Lloyd Loom chair and much loved 1970’s Holmegaard glass lamp!
“We only sell what we love, and get a real buzz from recycling and re-homing our vintage finds! Some pieces are born survivors, but some need a little love and attention to give them a new lease of life. So we repair, recover and sometimes reinvent, to create something that can be used and loved once again.” Julia Grant
The aim with their Pop-up Shop to bring a little bit of individuality back to Chichester whilst collaborating with local designer-makers to present a collection. Collaborations include: textiles by Sally Nye, Rachael Potter and local business, Clothkits; ceramics by Fanny Peppercorn; hand printed stationery by Alice Apple (all based in Chichester) and graphic prints by Peagreen (based in Winchester).
“Chichester is a really creative place with so many talented people and we wanted to create somewhere that reflected that. Our customers’ response to our colourful little shop has been wonderful – people really want to see more independent retailers here” Rebecca Joy
So if you fancy fleeing back to your childhood days for an intoxicating trip down memory lane you’ll be sure to find some must-have memorabilia or, if you are looking to treat your loved ones, there are lots of inspirational, original and one-off Christmas gifts. But don’t take it from me, please, be sure to pop in and see for yourself.
