Wedding wishes and thoughts from Blighty

Greta & Jeremy Brautman

For those of you that don’t already know, and you really ought to, today is the day Greta and Jeremy will remember for the rest of their lives. Early this week they hitched a ride on the love train from Berkeley to Brooklyn. Today they got married.

Judging by Jeremy’s emails and tweets over the week gone by, in the unavoidable and frantic lead up to “the big day”, things appear to have been bizarrely reminiscent of a Woody Allen movie, “the difference is the location” (Jeremy’s words). Needless to say we have been kept amused, intrigued and remain totally stoked for them.

United through chance (and a mutual affection for Twin Peaks), Greta and Jeremy stand testament to serendipitous encounters often being (un)written. Our own introduction to Jeremy, via a tweet posted by Jon Burgerman, reinforces that there is a myriad of ways to make new acquaintances.

When Jeremy, an incredibly creative and talented toy journalist and long time collector of ephemeral art, first mentioned he was getting married it came as little surprise to hear that their wedding theme would be a little quirky and offbeat. As befits the style of this quicksilver wordsmith, the wedding theme; “Edward Gorey”, acclaimed writer and illustrator of the macabre. For those with little or no knowledge of Edward Gorey (shame on you) their bespoke caketopper, as featured here, will give an insight into Greta and Jeremy’s truly original and phenomenal theme.

Bespoke caketopper handcrafted by the supertalent that is, Mike Leavitt.

Despite all attempts of bribery on our part, Jeremy is adamant he will, for one day only, refrain from blogging, email, twitter and his beloved iPhone! Though we did bust him earlier, tweeting in his final moments of bachelordom – an acceptably transient distraction given the circumstances.

Greta and Jeremy, we wish you love, luck and happiness for your future. And, as they say in San Fran, we’re hella stoked for you guys!

Enjoy your honeymoon in the “J” place which we still cannot bring ourselves to say out loud – out of sheer jealousy, ha!

Best wishes and thoughts from all of us here in Blighty.
