Eva and Franco Mattes a.k.a 0100101110101101.ORG
The group’s comically unwieldy name stands for the letter “K” in binary code, and the possible joke reference to the hero of Kafka’s The Trial (”K.”) is perfectly appropriate – the young artists behind the group, Italian-born Eva and Franco Mattes, make performances and web art that play on the inscrutable, Kafkaesque power of the corporate media. Something crafty is cooking in The Cupcaketologist’s Kitchen!
Our lovely, mega talented gal pal, Jess a.k.a The Cupcaketologist, has been cooking up a storm but this time cupcakes aren’t in the mix. On the menu instead are some rather delicious craft couture Tartan Hugs and To-Go Sleeves. Well, ’tis the season to be snuggly after all and what better way than to cosy up with tartan plaid, crochet knit and faux fur. Read more…

Halloween “DIY” Competition Winner: Molly Strong
Molly’s entry entitled “The Flip Side” stole our hearts and the competition for several reasons: an original “spin” on interpreting the brief, unique handcrafted art (true DIY indeed) and for introducing an element of fun and vivid colour which really depicts the spirit of Damien Hirst’s “spin painted” skulls. Wedding wishes and thoughts from Blighty
Greta & Jeremy Brautman
For those of you that don’t already know, and you really ought to, today is the day Greta and Jeremy will remember for the rest of their lives. Early this week they hitched a ride on the love train from Berkeley to Brooklyn. Today they got married.
Judging by Jeremy’s emails and tweets over the week gone by, in the unavoidable and frantic lead up to “the big day”, things appear to have been bizarrely reminiscent of a Woody Allen movie, “the difference is the location” (Jeremy’s words). Read more…

Bittersweet. Disdain vs. delight.
Aversion. I make no disillusion over my sentiments for the month of October… or so I thought…
Having never been an aesthete of all things autumnal, my original intent had been to write this post about my disdain for blustery, sodden October with its omnipotent imposing sense of dark foreboding. However, when I actually sought to collect my thoughts, in the vaguest semblance of order, it took very little time indeed to realise that just maybe I had passed judgement a little too prematurely. J Smith Esquire leads the revolution
Quintessentially British: avant-garde, creative and unmistakably eccentric. An appropriate précis of emerging supertalent, J Smith Esquire, who is spearheading the new wave in British millinery. The fashionistas amongst you will no doubt know hats are back, in a very big way. Amidst the purists, they never left.
No amount of rain or financial ruin will ever dampen British creativity. Read more…

The San Juan Surf (Ad)venture
As the saying goes; a change is as good as a rest. One of our graphic designers, Charlie Brown (that is her real name) decided that the sea down on the south coast, in our local spot on Wittering, could no longer satisfy her love of surfing in her spare time. Having worked with some leading design agencies including Deep and the Nokia design team and with clients such as the Ritz Hotel, Piccadilly and Centenary; she now, as well as working with The Neon Hive, is changing the face of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
