Halloween is the ultimate excuse to indulge in all things horror. Paradoxically, for someone who can no longer feast on horror films, the gut wrenching vivid nightmares that inevitably ensue have seen these days (and nights) go into premature retirement, I simply cannot get enough of horror art. Maybe the silence of these captivating and haunting images are more amenable to my subconscious mind? Memento mori… to die for?!

Bittersweet. Disdain vs. delight.

Aversion. I make no disillusion over my sentiments for the month of October… or so I thought…

Having never been an aesthete of all things autumnal, my original intent had been to write this post about my disdain for blustery, sodden October with its omnipotent imposing sense of dark foreboding. However, when I actually sought to collect my thoughts, in the vaguest semblance of order, it took very little time indeed to realise that just maybe I had passed judgement a little too prematurely. Haarlingen Harbour Crane Hotel

I didn’t know anything about Haarlingen. Well, I knew it was in The Netherlands, but that’s it. That was until I stumbled across what appears to be one of the most original, exciting holiday accommodation I have ever seen, and I want to go there.
